You may be suffering from specific phobia if you experience intense fear or panic when confronted to specific situations, objects, animals, or settings. For instance, your fear can be related to insects, closed environments, heights, flying, germs, flying, or going to a medical or dental office. You might perceive your fear to be excessive, especially when compared to how others react to the same situations. As a result, you may try to avoid to be confronted to the object of you fear at all costs (e.g., never use elevators, never take a plane, etc.).
Fortunately, like with other anxiety disorders, there are many techniques that can help you feel more comfortable in anxiety-inducing situations. We can work together to help you learn these skills and apply them to better manage your fears.
Phobias usually respond very well to treatment so if you would like to overcome your fears, please contact me or use the form below to set up an appointment and I will get back to you very soon!
